Taking Pictures on Mobile Phones Without Hijab

The Hijab of a Muslimah extends to something apart from the physical covering which people see, whether on her way out, to schools, workplace or any other place she visits.

Instructively, the Hijab is a symbol of BEAUTY, it gives you remarkable CONFIDENCE AND EMPOWERS you. It brings out the uniqueness in you. It is acceptable for you to put on the Hijab, admire your looks and appreciate Allah’s favour on you. But why expose this to those who care to see?

Unarguably, “beautiful” is what you call a Muslimah in the Hijab. However, it becomes remarkably absurd when a Muslimah who in her attire is an epitome of beauty, a sight to behold and a talent to admire stoops so low to keep nude pictures on her cell phone, computers and the likes.

I am not referring to the general nude pictures but a Hijabite without her Hijab is N-U-D-E. Some have this weird thought that it’s just some girl stuff, “if I can’t go out without my Hijab, I should be able to freestyle in my house”. That’s just weird! Sincerely.

Now before you condemn this, take a quick look at this:
The Hijab is meant to shield you from ’evil glances’ how do you guaranty that when you take pictures on your devices without the Hijab? Now you might think this is no business of yours because you don’t give your phone out to anybody, or you have an application lock on your phone.

Lets go a bit more PRACTICAL!
Allah created us although he gave us the freewill to do what we desire and the wisdom to think. We cannot deny that Allah still takes record of our every action. No matter how hard we try, His Will always prevail. Now let us come down a bit.
Our human mind tells us our gadgets was created by an expert who is a human being just like we are. If our phones get faulty, they attend to it. Have you ever thought someone could get hold of that phone and see the sacred body you claim to preserve? Does it ever occur to you that our phone locks are just APPLICATIONS developed by human beings too. Even those who do not develop apps find their way through phones.

If that sound ridiculous to you, that female friend of yours who goes through your phone and views your pictures. Do you ever imagine she could admire such picture and transfer to her phone from which it explodes to the whole world?

Someone might tell you, what is so special that you cannot take off the Hijab to take a picture?
My response is this, taking off your Hijab doesn’t make you more beautiful, it rather makes you less standard because it is assumed the Hijab does not suit you.

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.” (Quran 33:59).

This commandment does not give us the license to flaunt our beauty just because we want to be admired! Rather it gives us the assurance that we will be respected in the society because we are not just ordinary women, but honoured and respectable women who wholeheartedly follow the commandments of Allah.

My beloved sister, we need to be realistic with ourselves. We cannot have our cake and eat it! The choice of using the Hijab is a lifelong one and it is important to note that there is no partial fulfillment of the commitment.
If you want to admire yourself, USE THE MIRROR!

Our beauty is to be preserved, and not to be shared away in bits. Our lives is about the choices we make, the decisions we take. It is important we make the right decisions to avoid regret. Our covering should not just be to cover for the outside world, but for the world of the unknown.

As we celebrate the HIJAB, the Hijabis must understand that the Hijab is a symbol of our beauty, confidence and empowerment. Let the world know this is the best choice you have made. Let people know that there is more to the Hijab than just covering. There is more to beauty than taking pictures without the real you in Hijab. If they don’t agree with your choice then they are not worth being with you!

Its all about the World Hijab Day
