Hijab verdict: Truth prevailed again, says MSSN Apapa

BEING A CONGRATULATORY PRESS RELEASE BY THE AMIR (PRESIDENT) MUSLIM STUDENTS’ SOCIETY OF NIGERIA, APAPA AREA COUNCIL, ON THE REAFFIRMED TRIUMPH OF THE MUSLIM UMMAH OVER THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT IN THE ENDURING LEGAL TUSSLE OVER THE RIGHT OF MUSLIM STUDENTS TO USE HIJAB IN SCHOOLS

On behalf of the teeming members of my Area Council, I hereby felicitate with and congratulate the Lagos State Amir of the Society, Dr. Saheed Ashafa, members and the entire Lagos State Muslim Community, on the recurring triumph and victory in the enduring legal tussle with the Lagos State Government, bothering on the right of Muslim Students to use Hijab in schools without harassment, following the decision of the Court of Appeal to strike out a motion of the State Government, seeking an Injunction to stop the use of Hijab in Lagos State on Tuesday 7th February, 2017.

From the year immemorial the rivalry between the truth and falsehood has been a continuous and tough struggle. Series of Hijab cases has been in the court of law in the past both in Nigeria and abroad. But the most resent one which made and indelible foot print in the mind of the unfaithful and biased top Lagos state Government officials’’ in the Christendom began in the year 2013.

The Hijab ban case was as a result of the victimization on some of our Muslim students’ female members using Hijab in Lagos state public school. This lead to the MSSN Lagos state Area Unit filling a suit at the Lagos High court but the deciding judge upheld the hijab ban. However the society proceeded to the court of appeal seeking the appellate court to set aside the lower court judgment, her prayer was granted as the unanimous decision by the five man panel set by the appeal court favour the society.

While the Lagos state Muslim community started gathering the momentum, calling for modus operandi to implement the court verdict, the Lagos state government who had earlier accepted defeat filed a motion of stay of execution at the Lagos Division of the appeal court. The want to extinguish the light of Islam using what they felt is within their control then it was never occur to them that Allah is the owner and controller of the universe. The truth prevailed again yesterday 7th February 2017 when the court of appeal struck out the case filled by Lagos state Government which ask the court to stop the use of Hijab implementation in school giving the society another overwhelming victory.

Now that the right of our Muslim students’ female member, whether in the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, to ware hijab as part of the school uniform has been guaranteed constitutionally, I therefore make a clarion call to all public school principals to be a law abiding citizen of Nigeria. For any further infringe on the right of our female folks is now a criminal offence.

We pray to Allah in his infinite mercy to strengthen the leadership of Dr Saheed Ashafa against any other force of falsehood. We also thanks all the lovers of truth from the beginning of this course hitherto. Many thanks to all the judges as they stood by truth and return morals to our schools.
